By visiting or staying in our hotel, you agree, accept and respect our house rules. Below you will find a list of our house rules:
Zero tolerance
Hotel Schiedam operates a zero tolerance policy. For all our guests, failure to comply with our house rules will result in immediate expulsion from the hotel without warning. This also means no refunds will be issued and any deposit paid will unfortunately be withheld.
General rules
All instructions from hotel staff related to house rules must be followed.
- In case of fire, remain calm. Report the fire to reception and/or activate the nearest fire alarm.
- Immediately evacuate the building during a general fire alarm.
- Do not use the elevators in case of fire. - Check-in is possible from the age of 18. Both guests must be 18 years or older.
- Presentation of a valid identification card is mandatory. If the room is reserved for 2 persons, both must present a valid identification card.
- You must cooperate with bag checks when requested.
- Cameras are installed in various locations within the building. By entering our Hotel, everyone consents to being recorded. These recordings may be shown to third parties as supporting material in case of emergencies and/or incidents.
- Found items should be handed in at reception.
- Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam is not responsible for any loss or theft of your belongings.
- The Management, the owner of this location, and/or persons working for the Hotel cannot be held liable for any physical and/or material damage, or any consequential damage that visitors to the location may experience.
- Verbal and/or physical violence will not be tolerated.
- Rooms must be cleaned daily for hygiene purposes.
- Bringing food from outside and/or ordering food is not allowed.
- The hotel is not responsible for any loss or theft of your belongings.
- Your clothing must be presentable at all times; we reserve the right to refuse entry to guests who wish to enter the restaurant, hotel, and/or terrace with exposed upper bodies.
- Dispose of waste in designated bins.
- An emergency first aid kit is available at reception. Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam also has an AED.
- Glassware and crockery may not be taken to the parking lot.
- Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam offers free parking. We kindly request that you park your car in the marked parking spaces to avoid unnecessary inconvenience. Parking is at your own risk. Please consider the disabled parking spaces, loading/unloading parking spaces, and electric vehicle parking spaces.
- Hotel Schiedam reserves the right to cancel and/or modify your reservation at any time.
- Pets are not allowed in all rooms and suites.
- Smoking is not allowed throughout the hotel.
- We respect your privacy under all circumstances; however, we are authorized to enter your room if there is suspicion of "non-compliance with our house rules." A "do not disturb" sign is not valid if there is suspicion of any of the above points or, naturally, in case of an emergency.
- Violation of the rules as stated in this house regulation or at the time of any other unwanted or unlawful behavior gives Hotel Schiedam the right to place you on the Alert List for a certain period and/or, in the event of a serious violation, share your details with other Valk Exclusief hotels so that you are also not welcome there. In case of placement on the Alert List, you will receive written notification. As the booker of the room, you are responsible for the guests you bring. If a guest staying in a room booked by you violates the house rules or engages in unwanted or unlawful behavior, we may place you on the Alert List and hold you accountable for any damages.
- Our management wishes you a pleasant and safe stay.
Regulation Suites
- Smoking is not allowed throughout the hotel. Violation of this rule will result in the hotel charging you €250.00 for additional cleaning costs and/or damages incurred.
- Lighting candles/incense is strictly prohibited due to the fire alarm and fire hazard (the security system will be activated immediately).
- Certain decorations, such as confetti, are not allowed in the hotel rooms. Please inquire at reception if your decoration is allowed. Additional cleaning costs or technical defects resulting from this will be charged to the guest.
- A maximum of 2 persons are allowed in the suite. Children and babies are not allowed in the suites.
- We require a deposit of €200.00 for the issuance of the room key. This must be completed through advance payment, by debit card, or by authorization on your credit card. We will refund the deposit to you after check-out, via the same payment method you used for the deposit, provided the room is left in the correct condition.
- Check-out time for this room is no later than 12:00 PM, after which we will inspect the room.
- Any damages will be deducted from the deposit. For major damages, we will send you an invoice. After the suite is inspected, the deposit will be refunded to you.
- The deposit will only be refunded to the guest who presented identification during check-in. Presentation of identification upon refund of the deposit is mandatory.
- Presentation of a valid identification card is mandatory. If the room is reserved for 2 persons, both must present a valid identification card.
- It is not allowed to receive unregistered or other hotel guests in the room. If other guests are found in the room, you will be asked to leave the hotel immediately.
- Damaging, losing, or vandalizing hotel property will lead to immediate removal, liability, and/or police report.
- The use, trading, or possession of narcotics (in any form) is prohibited. In case of drug use and trafficking, the hotel management will involve the police and may remove the guest without refund.
- Our general house rules also apply during your stay at Hotel Schiedam.
- Failure to comply with the above house rules or causing damage, loss, or vandalism of Hotel Schiedam property will result in immediate removal, liability, and/or police report. This also means no refunds will be given, and any paid deposit will unfortunately be withheld.
- It is forbidden to:
- Cover smoke detectors.
- Use emergency exits as normal entrances and exits.
- Take hotel property outside the building. Intentional damage to hotel property may result in liability for repair and/or replacement costs.
- Consume, use, trade, or possess narcotics. Upon detection, eviction will follow and paid costs will not be refunded.
- Use whipped cream chargers/nitrous oxide balloons and/or ampoules in and around the hotel (on orders from the fire department). If used, these will be confiscated without return.
- Cause disturbance to others through loud music, objectionable behavior, or noise of any kind.
- Smoke in the room. If we find evidence of smoking in the room, we will charge €250.00 for cleaning costs. If the fire alarm goes off due to smoking in the room, you will be billed €300.00 for the fire department's call-out costs.
- Stay with more people in the room than the reserved or allowed number.
- Receive visitors in the room.
- Receive guests in the rooms for the purpose of commercial sexual activities.
- Rent the room in your name without personally staying in the room. - We respect your privacy under all circumstances; however, we are authorized to enter your room in case of "non-compliance with our house rules."
