Hotel Schiedam operates a zero-tolerance policy. All guests are expected to comply with our house rules. Failure to do so will result in immediate removal from the hotel without prior warning. No refund will be provided, and if a deposit has been paid, it will unfortunately be retained.

At Rooftop Restaurant 16th, we kindly ask our guests to adhere to a smart casual dress code. This means neat and appropriate attire. Sportswear, sweatpants, tracksuits, and flip-flops are not permitted.
General Rules
All instructions given by hotel employees relating to the house rules must be followed.
In the event of a fire, remain calm. Report the fire to Reception and/or activate the nearest fire alarm.
In the event of a general fire alarm, leave the building immediately.
Under no circumstances use the elevators in the event of a fire.
Check-in is only permitted for guests aged 18 and over.
Cameras are installed at various locations throughout the building. Everyone present in our hotel consents to being recorded. In the event of emergencies and/or incidents, these recordings may be provided to third parties as supporting evidence.
Found property must be handed in at Reception.
Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam is not responsible for loss or theft of your belongings.
The management, the owner of this location and/or persons working for the hotel cannot be held liable for any personal injury and/or material or non-material damage suffered by visitors to the premises.
Verbal and/or physical violence will not be tolerated.
For hygiene reasons, the room must be cleaned every day.
The hotel is not responsible for loss or theft of your belongings.
Your clothing must be neat and presentable at all times. We reserve the right to refuse access to guests who wish to enter the restaurant, hotel and/or terrace bare-chested.
Waste must be disposed of in the designated waste bins.
A first-aid kit is available at Reception. Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam also has an AED.
Glassware and tableware may not be taken to the parking area.
Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam offers free parking. We kindly ask you to park your car in the designated parking spaces to avoid unnecessary inconvenience. Parking is at your own risk. Please respect the disabled parking spaces, loading and unloading spaces, and parking spaces for electric vehicles.
Hotel Schiedam reserves the right to cancel and/or modify your reservation at any time.
Our management wishes you a pleasant and safe stay.
Pets are not allowed in any of the rooms or suites.
Presenting a valid physical form of identification is mandatory. If the room is reserved for two people, both guests must present a valid physical form of identification. Once two guests have been checked in to a room, no changes can be made to this registration.
You are required to cooperate with a bag check if requested.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the hotel.
We respect your privacy at all times. However, we are authorized to enter your room if we suspect that our house rules are not being complied with. A “Do Not Disturb” sign is not valid in the event of suspected violations of any of the above rules or, naturally, in the event of an emergency.
In the event of a violation of the rules stated in these house rules, or in the event of other undesirable or unlawful behaviour, Hotel Schiedam reserves the right to place you on the Alert List for a certain period and/or, in the event of a serious violation, share your details with other Valk Exclusief hotels, meaning you may no longer be welcome there either. If you are placed on the Alert List, you will receive written notification. As the person who booked the room, you are responsible for the guests you bring with you. If a guest staying in a room booked by you violates the house rules or engages in undesirable or unlawful behaviour, we may place you, as the person who made the booking, on the Alert List and hold you liable for any resulting damage.
Found property handed in to us will be kept for a maximum of four weeks. If it is not collected within four weeks, we are obliged to destroy the item. Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam accepts no responsibility for lost or found property.
It is strictly prohibited to operate, launch or land drones on or around our premises. The area is an official no-fly zone in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The possession or use of imitation or counterfeit versions of prohibited substances, such as drugs or weapons, is not permitted anywhere in the hotel or on the hotel grounds.
If a room is left in an unacceptably dirty or damaged condition, the hotel reserves the right to charge additional costs and/or refuse the guest for future stays.
You are permitted to order food from outside the hotel. However, we kindly ask delivery drivers to wait outside the hotel and contact the hotel guest themselves to deliver the order. Delivery drivers are not permitted to wait inside the hotel or leave the order with the hotel.
If you fail to check out on time, we will be required to charge additional costs. We therefore kindly ask you to respect the agreed check-out time.
Children without a swimming certificate are required to use flotation devices. These are available for purchase at our reception.
Children without a swimming certificate may only use the swimming pool under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Suite Regulations
Damage to, loss of or deliberate destruction of hotel property will result in immediate removal from the hotel, liability for the resulting costs and/or a report to the police.
The use, possession or dealing of narcotics or other illegal drugs, in any form, is prohibited. In the event of drug use or dealing, hotel management will contact the police and may remove the guest from the hotel without refund.
It is not permitted to receive unregistered guests or other hotel guests in the room. If other guests are found in the room, you will be asked to leave the hotel immediately.
Any damage will be deducted from the deposit. In the event of more extensive damage, an invoice will be sent to you. Once the suite has been inspected, the deposit will be refunded.
The deposit will only be refunded to the guest who provided identification at check-in. Presenting identification when receiving the deposit refund is mandatory.
Presenting a valid form of identification is mandatory. If the room is reserved for two people, both guests must present valid identification.
Our general house rules also apply during your stay at Hotel Schiedam.
If you fail to comply with the above house rules or if Hotel Schiedam property is damaged, lost or deliberately destroyed, no warning will be given. It is strictly prohibited to light candles, incense or similar items due to the fire alarm and fire hazard. The security system will be activated immediately.
Certain decorations, such as confetti, are not permitted in the hotel rooms. Please check with Reception whether your desired decorations are permitted. Any additional cleaning costs or technical issues resulting from this will be charged to the guest.
A maximum of two people are permitted in the suite. Children and babies are not permitted in the suites.
Check-out for this room is no later than 12:00 noon, after which the room will be inspected.
A €200.00 deposit is required when the room key is issued. This must be paid in advance, by debit card, or authorized on your credit card. The deposit will be refunded after check-out using the same payment method, provided the room is left in the proper condition.
Photography & Filming
Photography and filming for commercial, promotional or professional purposes is only permitted with prior written approval from the hotel.
It is not permitted to photograph or film other guests or employees without their consent.
The hotel reserves the right to request that photographs or recordings be stopped or removed if they infringe on the privacy, safety or rights of guests, employees or the hotel.
Wellness & Fitness
Playing your own music is not permitted due to noise disturbance.
Used towels must be placed in the designated basket.
For hygiene reasons, personal grooming is not permitted in the wellness area.
Bringing and consuming your own food or beverages is not permitted.
Wearing swimwear is mandatory.
Showering is mandatory before using the swimming pool.
Personal swimming equipment is not permitted.
The use of weights and other fitness equipment in the pool area is not permitted. Diving is not permitted.
Children who cannot swim independently are required to use flotation aids (available at reception).
Children who cannot swim independently may only use the swimming pool under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Showering is mandatory before using the saunas.
Wearing swimwear in the saunas is mandatory.
The use of a large, dry towel is mandatory in the saunas.
Electronic devices are not permitted in the saunas, including mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, laptops and gaming consoles.
The use of a towel is mandatory in the fitness area.
Please wear sports shoes that have only been worn indoors.
No personal supervision is provided. For the safety and security of our guests and staff, CCTV is in operation in public areas.
The management and employees of Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam shall in no event be held liable for personal injury, loss and/or theft of personal belongings. In the event of an emergency, you can contact reception at any time.
Running is not permitted in the swimming pool, wellness centre or fitness area.
The wellness centre is exclusively accessible to hotel guests.
Guests under the age of 12 are only permitted when accompanied by an adult.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the wellness centre.
Pets are not permitted in the wellness centre.
We kindly ask guests to respect the peace and quiet of our wellness centre.
It Is Prohibited To:
Consume, use, trade or possess narcotics or other illegal drugs. If this is detected, you will be removed from the hotel and any payments made will not be refunded.
Use or possess whipped-cream chargers, nitrous oxide balloons and/or cartridges in or around the hotel, as required by the fire department. If used, these items will be confiscated and will not be returned.
Cause inconvenience or disturbance to others, including through loud music, public intoxication, inappropriate behaviour or noise of any kind.
Smoke in the room. If we determine that smoking has taken place in the room, we will charge €250.00 in cleaning costs. If the fire alarm is activated as a result of smoking in the room, the €300.00 call-out fee charged by the fire department will also be passed on to you.
Stay in the room with more people than the number reserved or permitted.
Receive visitors in the room.
Book a room in your own name without staying in the room yourself.
We respect your privacy at all times; however, we are authorized to enter your room if we suspect that our house rules are not being complied with.

Allow children under the age of 16 to use the swimming pool without parental supervision.
Use emergency exits as regular entrances or exits.
Remove hotel property from the building. Anyone who deliberately damages hotel property may be held liable for repair and/or replacement costs.
Decorations
We require a €150.00 deposit for decorations in our rooms.

Check-in is from 16:00, and check-out for our rooms is no later than 12:00.
It is not permitted to receive unregistered guests in the room.
Smoking is prohibited. E-cigarettes are also not permitted.
The use of and/or having nitrous oxide cartridges and other types of narcotics in the room or on the hotel premises is not permitted.
Confetti that causes damage to the floor and/or carpet is not permitted.
Drilling, nails and other methods of attaching decorations to walls and ceilings are not permitted.
Guests are required to remove the decorations themselves before the original check-out time.
